424,553. Aerating cynanide solutions. KNAPP, E. A., and BATES, W. R., 813, Salisbury House, London Wall, London. Oct. 2, 1934, No. 28204. [Class 82 (i)] A process for aerating cyanide solutions comprises passing the solution into or through a chamber containing a series of balls or other relatively small elements which are caused to partake of a pulsating or oscillatory movement under the influence of an aerating medium intermittently supplied to the chamber under pressure. The solution enters a chamber a at d, passes round the ends of partitions b therein and leaves at g. Rubber balls h, or short lengths of rubber tube or cylinders, are caused to oscillate between screens k, l by means of compressed air delivered through pipes m from a pump n. A valve p serves to deliver the air in turn to the pipes m so that such air is delivered to the solution in short, sharp puffs. The process and apparatus may be applied to continuous cyanide processes for the treatment of ores.
