[Class 65 (i)] [See also Group XII] The laterally movable doors D, D of a metal-heating furnace are carried by pairs of parallel-motion links E, E<1>, and E<2>, E<3>, which are pivoted to the lower edges of the doors and to a fixed support F. The links E, E<3> may be extended to carry counterweights W, and the two pairs of links may be interconnected for simultaneous operation of the doors by a hand lever G or foot pedal H. The vertically-movable door K of the preheating-chamber B is counterbalanced by the weight W<1> and is operated from the foot pedal N<1> through the link n and crank arm N on the shaft of the pulley k. The door is pressed against its seat by a bar M engaging inclined brackets carried by the furnace. 424,073.
