[Class 18] A packing-case for frangible articles such as eggs, bulbs, tubes, and similar ovate articles which are not necessarily of standard size is fitted with packing sheets, e.g. of moulded pulp each having on each face tapered pockets 3, 4 of circular or polygonal section, each article engaging in a pocket and being supported laterally by four hollow posts constituted by four pockets on the other side of the sheet, the spacing of the pockets in one direction being equal to that in the other. Adjacent sheets, which may be identical, are disposed at right angles to each other so that downwardly facing pockets of one sheet are in alignment with upwardly facing pockets of the other and so that cushioning projections 31, 41 may contact. Lateral movement of the sheets is prevented by the engagement of projections 32 with recesses 42. The ends of the pockets may, in an alternative form, be flat. Diagonally opposite corners of the sheets may be removed or portions may be cut from the edges at 11 to indicate how the sheets should be oriented and to serve also as finger-grips. The sheets may have continuous margins and may also, when provision for ventilation is not desired, have continuous marginal projections. The pockets on one face of the sheet may be deeper than those on the other face. The assembly of packing sheets may be enclosed in a prefolded liner interposed between the packing case and the packing sheets or a liner of paper or felt creased to facilitate folding may be used which is waterproofed on one or both faces by cellulosic material &c. or by a coating of waterproofing material. The packing case may be divided into two by a central vertical partition.
