Abstract
421,292. Keyboard musical instruments. COMPTON, J. H., Chase Road, Willesden, London. July 28, 1933, No. 21308. [Class 88 (ii)] An enharmonic musical instrument, such as an organ, has an ordinary keyboard and is provided with means whereby a key, say A, which normally produces a note A which is in consonance with say E and F but which would be in dissonance with D, is caused, on the simultaneous operation of key D in order to sound note D, to sound a sharper A, consonant with D, in lieu of the normal A. In Fig. 1, depression of the A key 1, by closing contacts 3 sounds the normal A at 2. Depression of the D key 5, by closing contacts 9 sounds the note D at 10; it also breaks the normal A circuit at 4 and closes contacts 7, so that if the A key 1 is simultaneously depressed closing contacts 3, a sharper A is sounded at 8. Instead of using separate sounding means at 2 and 8 for the normal A and the sharper A, an aperture on the normal A pipe may be opened to produce the sharper A (Fig. 2, not shown). Circuits may be arranged so that all the D's control all the A's (Fig. 3, not shown).
