Abstract

420,492. Controlling air supply. LUKS, F. A., 43, Boulevard St.-Michel, Paris. June 15, 1934, No. 17817. Convention date, Nov. 13, 1933. [Class 51 (i)] Upon opening a furnace door a switch is operated to start a forced draught fan and also clockwork mechanism which shuts down the fan after a predetermined time. The door is provided with a projection 7 which, when the door is thrown open, closes a switch 6 and current flows from mains 13 to energize a solenoid 17 the core 16 of which closes a switch 15 in the circuit of the fan motor 4. Simultaneously an energizing coil 21 closes a holding switch 20 and starts clockwork mechanism (not shown). Upon closing the door, the fan continues to operate until the clockwork mechanism releases the switch 20 when the solenoid 17 is then de-energized and the switch 15 opened by a spring 16<a> to stop the fan motor. An indicator lamp 10 is arranged in the motor circuit and a recording meter 12 registers the number of times the fan is operated. The suction pipe of the fan is provided with valves which are normally closed but open automatically when the fan is started.
