Abstract

420,220. Collectors for electric trolly vehicles. MASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON, Oerlikon, near Z³rich, Switzerland. June 23, 1934, No. 18608. Convention date, July 8, 1933. [Class 104 (iii)] On a trolly vehicle drawing current from bi-polar wires arranged in the form of loops at the track terminals, as shown in Fig. 7, the two contact pieces of the vehicle are relatively offset, in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, either by offsetting the pivotal mountings as in Fig. 5<a> or by making the poles of different lengths and mounting them on the same axis, as shown in Fig. 6<a>. This arrangement enables the vehicle to reverse its direction of travel at the terminals without changing the polarity of the contact pieces.
