Abstract

419,633. Spectacle lenses. BRITISH A. O. CO., Ltd., 39, Hatton Garden, London.- (American Optical Co. ; Southbridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A.) Jan. 1, 1934, No. 90. [Class 97 (i).] A spectacle lens having both its surfaces of toric form is made from two blanks 1, 2, the surfaces 5, 6 of which are shaped to the desired forms of those of the finished lens, while the surfaces 3, 4 are of such form, e.g. spherical, that they will fit together as the blanks are relatively rotated about the axis of the lens. The blanks are placed together with cement 7 between the surfaces 3, 4, and are adjusted so that the cylinder axes of the surfaces 5, 6 make the desired angle with each other before the cement is allowed to harden.
