Abstract

Fluid distensible cores for vulcanizing hollow rubber articles such as pneumatic tyres are given a longer useful life by being provided on their inner surface with a surface lining of liquid absorbent textile material, such as asbestos fabric or ground cotton or asbestos fibres. When fabric is used it may be coated with rubber, preferably of the same composition as the bag, cut on the bias and then rolled or pressed into contact with the internal surface of the bag and non-separably vulcanized thereto. A typical fabric consists of 15-20 warp threads and 25-35 weft threads per inch, the fabric being of the order of 0,3 mm. thick.
