[Classes 92 (i) and 119.] A self-balancing mounting for firearms comprises a spherical, spheroidal, ovoidal or similarly shaped boss 1 having in its upper part an internal cavity 3 with an opening 4 in the top wall thereof through which an arm 5 passes without touching the edge of the opening, the arm being secured to the solid lower part of the boss and carrying a firearm at its upper end. The boss rests on the ground or in a part-spherical bearing in a base plate 7, so that the heavy lower part of the boss tends to keep the arm vertical while allowing it to be moved easily for aiming the gun.
