[Class 113 (i).] In apparatus for damping the rolling of ships by energizing by air pressures the motion of liquid in the stabilizing tanks 1, 2, fluid, e.g. fuel oil contained in tanks 7<1>-10<1>, 7<11>-10<11> parallel with the tanks 1, 2 may be employed to correct list by connecting by conduits 11<1>, 12<1>, 11<11>, 12<11> the air spaces of the main tanks 1, 2 with the air spaces in the supplementary tanks on the same side and regulating the cock 4<a> until the air has displaced sufficient liquid through thwart-ship conduits from the whole of the tanks on the high side of the ship to correct the list. The air conduits interconnecting the air spaces of the tanks on the same side of the ship are throttled. Specification 389,553 is referred to.
