Abstract
418,883. Indicating liquid levels. WHITE, J. W., 18965, Muirland Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. Dec. 27, 1933, No. 36344. Convention date, Jan. 3. [Class 123 (i).] A device for indicating when the liquid in the supply chamber of a hydraulic brake falls to a low level comprises a float 24 on an arm 26 pivoted at 22 to a plate 15 forming part of the wall of the supply chamber 7. The arm has a projection 21 which forms an electric contact and which when the liquid level falls sufficiently, contacts with a plug 17 insulated from the plate 15 and thus closes an electric circuit which includes a warning lamp. In the case of a motor vehicle, the lamp may be arranged on the dash-board and the circuit may include the ignition switch so that the circuit can only be completed when this switch is closed. As shown, the chamber 7 is mounted on the master cylinder of the hydraulic brake system that it supplies.
