Abstract

Elastic yarns comprise a core of a rubber-like substance which, whilst in a semidry or semivulcanized condition, has been coated with short fibres or powdery material capable of being dyed or powdery material capable of being dyed or coloured, and the core afterwards dried. No additional adhesive is used. Suitable materials are wood powder, wood fibre, silk, artificial silk, cotton, or other vegetable fibres. The powder or fibres may be dyed or coloured before or after the coating operation, which is effected by passing the sticky core through the material. Mixtures of powder and fibre may be used, and with previously dyed material, mixtures of different colours may be used.
