[Class 100 (i).] Means for retaining a roll of wallpaper or the like on a paste board or table during trimming or pasting comprises a member or a pair of members each adapted to be removably secured to the paste board or table, a rod removably mounted in sockets in the member, and a spindle removably mounted on the rod and upon which spindle the roll is mounted. The roll 2 is mounted on two spindles 9 each provided with an eye at one end for engagement over a cranked rod 8 of square cross section, 5, 6 situated at right-angles to each other in a clamp member 3 secured to a board or table 1 by a screw 4. With the rods 8 in the holes 5, as shown, the roll 2 can be slid either way transversely of the board 1 to enable the edges 2<a> in turn to be trimmed by a knife ; to permit greater transverse movement of the roll, for trimming with scissors, the cranked rods may be fitted in the holes 5 at right-angles to the position shown, with the cranked ends outwardly of the board. When the edges have been trimmed, the roll can be mounted below the end of the board by inserting the rods 8 in the alternative holes 6, in which case the paper is led over the board, blank side uppermost, for pasting. If desired a roller may be provided at the opposite end of the board to enable the paper to be wound thereon during trimming. When only one clamp member is provided, the end of the spindle may be screwed into the cranked rod, or the end may rotate in a hole in the rod to enable the spindle to rotate with the roll.
