Abstract

Dyestuff pastes for copying purposes contain as solvent or dispersing medium or base material one or more saturated or unsaturated mono- or polyvalent fatty alcohols containing more than six carbon atoms, or naphthenic alcohols, or their corresponding simple or mixed ethers, or mixtures of such substances. Stearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, oleic alcohol, ricinoleic alcohol, coco-nut oil fatty alcohol, linseed oil alcohol, naphthenic alcohols, a commercial mixture of any of these alcohols, dicetyl ether, didecyl ether, didodecyl ether, cetyl octyl ether, dodecylbutyl ether, and dinaphthenyl ether are specified for use. One or more sulphuric acid reaction products of the said alcohols or the products obtained by their complete or partial neutralization with organic or inorganic bases may be added as emulsifying or dispersing agents, and hydrocarbons, waxes, fats, oils and fatty acids may also be added. In one example, copying papers are prepared by applying a mixture of crystal violet, alcohol, dicetyl ether, oleic alcohol and paraffin oil to "Japan" paper. In a second example, a mixture of nigrosine, lauryl or ricinoleic alcohol, stearyl alcohol, montan wax or spermaceti, or hydrogenated sperm oil, and paraffin oil is used. In a third example, typewriter ribbons are prepared from a mixture of Berlin Blue, a neutralized aqueous paste of oleic alcohol sulphonate, stearyl alcohol, and oleic alcohol. In a fourth example, a paste for application to permanent matrices or duplicating stencils consists of carbon black, naphthenic alcohols, cetyl alcohol, oleic alcohol, and beeswax or tragacanth. p Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 395,225, [Group XVI].
