Abstract
417,864. Distributers for sand. TUCKER, E., 44, Brockenhurst Way, Norbury, London. April 11, 1933, No. 10854. [Class 6 (i).] In a road-sanding device for use on vehicles, the outlet 5 from a sand-container 1 normally is closed by the sand lying on a disc 6 spaced at a fixed distance from the outlet, rotation of the disc causing radial ejection of sand within an area which may be limited by fixed shields. The disc 6 is fixed to a vertical spindle 7 geared to a horizontal shaft adapted to be rotated by a chain-and-sprocket device, the chain 10 of which is connected by a cable 12 to an operating- pedal &c., and to a return spring 13. A tube 16 encloses the spindle 7 and the bearings 17 therefor, a felt disc 19 sealing the lower end of the tube. A peripheral flange 6<a> may be provided on the disc to retain the sand, and radial ribs to facilitate radial ejection thereof.
