Abstract

417,818. Vehicle wheels. HIRSHFELD, C. F., 120, Burlingame Street, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. Oct. 27, 1933, No. 29907. [Class 144 (i).] Metal tyres 2 for railway wheels are formed of laminations 11 having imperfectly-nesting corrugations &c. 14, 15 and secured in lateral compression between the guide-flange 10 and a bolted-on side-flange 7. The flange 10 may be integral with the wheel-rim 4; or, as shown, it may be a separate wedge-section ring seated on a rubber cushion 12. Fig. 5 is a section of the assembled tyre showing the air-pockets 17 between the laminations.
