417,448. Conveying circular motion. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Constructions Electriques de France (Soc. Anon.) ; 38, Avenue Kleber, Paris.) March 1, 1933, No. 6288. Convention date, March 1, 1932. [Classes 80 (ii) and 80 (iii).] In a linkwork drive between the driving or track wheels of an electric locomotive and the motor fixedly mounted on the locomotive frame, the links are all jointed by means of ball or rollers bearings and some or all of them are flexibly constructed. In the example illustrated, pins or journals 3 on the track wheel 2 carry links 5, the other ends of which are jointed at 6 in the forked ends of a plate member 8, constrained to move parallel to the wheel by guides 9 and cut away to clear the axle 1. The member 8 is in turn connected in a similar manner to journals 10 of the motor shaft, which pass through ample openings 12 in the track wheel, the connecting links being built up of four steel blades 16, Fig. 3, and their connections including universals at each end. Alternatively, the links 5 may be of the construction just described ; also the blades 16 may be of any desired member or section. The Specification 401,552, (Figs. 6-12) shows other similar systems to which the invention may be applied.
