[Class 65 (ii).] A hinged drop gate for docks and locks has a keel of two radii, an inner part R being larger than the outer part R<1>, so that at the base there is formed an abutment j. The sill is correspondingly formed of two parts f, f with an abutment h between them, so that when the gate is moved to the vertical position the parts j, h meet. If the tidal water outside the gate is high, the pressure is taken by the parts R, f ; if it is low, the pressure is taken by the parts R<1>, f<1>.
