Abstract
416,334. Golf tees. KINSMAN, H. J., Cottage-by-the-Sea, Fort Road, Alverstoke, Hampshire. Nov. 18, 1933, Nos. 32196 and 36185. [Class 132 (ii).] A golf tee comprises a circular structure of soft textile material, for example, wool, yarn, silk, cotton, blanket fabric &c. in stranded, felted or woven form, and providing a substantially flat base to rest upon the ground and an upstanding ball receiving cup. The tee may comprise a flattened ball of tufted wool 1, Figs. 1, 2, covered at its base with one or more strips 2 of blanket or flannel, and a waterproof cloth 3. If desired, a length of stranded wool may be coiled round the edge of the upper surface of the ball 1 to define the ball receiving cup surface. Guide tails 4, 5 are provided and a knot on the tail 4 is formed a definite distance from the tee 1 to serve as a length measuring device. An alternative form of tee comprises a strip of textile material bent and sewn to form a short tube, the lower end of which is bound with wool or thread 8, Fig. 7, and the upper end with thread 9, additional longitudinal threads 10 being also provided if desired. A stiffening tube, for example, of shagreen or parchment, may be secured within the tubular tee. In another embodiment, the tee may comprise a ring 11, Fig. 5, provided with two tails as in Fig. 1, or attached to another tee 12 which comprises a ring 15, Fig. 6, through which extends a tuft of wool 13 bound at 14, the tuft being pushed in and out of the ring to vary the height of the tee. In the case of ring and tubular tees the tails may be sewn or knotted therein, the knots providing a ball supporting tuft.
