Abstract
415,050. Reversible seats. BERESFORD, K., Charlton Lodge, Charlton Kings, Cheltenham. Feb. 13, 1933, No. 4321. [Class 52 (ii).] In a reversible seat for railway-coaches, the seat and back members, A, A2 are rigidly connected together, and are mounted on a horizontal spindle G between supports P, so that on reversal, the seat becomes the back and vice versa. Hinged and stayed boards K, K2 are provided near the free edges of the seat and back which form alternatively supports for the seat or shelves behind the back. Folding arms D, E are also provided, and a loose spring cushion C which forms the seating surface in either position is attached to the spindle G by means of loops. Lock nuts may be provided to retain the seat in either position.
