[Class 106 (iii).] Ticket printing and issuing machines for use with totalisators are provided with an auxiliary registration device comprising a record strip on which particulars are printed by a serial numbering apparatus and type printing wheels corresponding with those on the main ticket printing apparatus. A competitor printing wheel 58 and a class marking sector 51 are mounted on a shaft 49 so as to move with the corresponding record printing wheels 10, 14 respectively, these wheels being arranged alongside a counter 16 worked simultaneously with the main counter, not shown. The record strip 20 is wound on the spool 22 by steps by means of ratchet mechanism including a pawl 23 carried by the rocking lever 25 which is oscillated by link 26 from a three armed lever 29, 27, 68 connected by link 69 to the main operating mechanism 53. The record printing is effected by the platen 30 on the arm 29. The inking ribbon 17 is also fed forward on to the spool 61 by an oscillating lever 62, ratchet mechanism and a reduction gear.
