Abstract

413,372. Transmitting pulverulent material. WHITEHOUSE, J. M., 13, Alexandra Road, and HADDAN, A. J. H., 1 lA, St. Andrew's Road, both in Bedford. Jan. 20, 1933, Nos. 1939 and 12765. [Class 102 (ii).] Pulverulent material is conveyed through a conduit a, Fig. 1, by pressure fluid admitted to the space between the conduit and an outer casing c by a pipe g. The conduit is made from a strip of sheet metal which is wound on a helical core in such a manner that at the overlapping portions there are formed channels, or a continuous narrow slot d, for the admission of the pressure fluid. A wire helix b is placed between the conduit and casing. A safety valve n, Fig. 14, may be provided on a chamber m<1> between sections of conduit which contains a number of fine screens o. In a modification the conduit is composed of a number of separate slightly tapered tubular members adapted to overlap at their ends to provide narrow channels for the passage of the fluid.
