Abstract
412,850. Induction motors. WORTHINGTON-SIMPSON, Ltd., Lowfield Works, Newark - on - Trent.-(Soc. de Participation Financiere Electric Pump), and SOC. DE PARTICIPATION FINANCIERE ELECTRIC PUMP, 5, Rue Philippe, Luxemburg. Dec. 2, 1933, No. 33953. [Class 35.] The conductor bars 2 of a squirrel-cage rotor are connected to a series of spaced elements 3, which are supported by an insulating plate 4 on the shaft 7. A binding wire 5 of ohmic resistance, higher than the bars or segments, is wound in the form of a helix around the elements 3 and limits the starting current through the bars. A centrifugal switch comprising the weights 13, spring 11 and copper contacts 9 short-circuits the ends of the bars when the rotor has attained a predetermined speed.
