Abstract
412,794. Television. BULLIMORE, W. R., and BEDFORD, L. H., Cossor Works, Highbury Grove, London. Aug. 28, 1933, No. 23879. Drawings to Specification. [Class 40 (iii).] In a television transmitting apparatus in which a continuously moving cinematograph film is scanned by an electrically-controlled scanning device, a controlling wave of the picture frequency is applied to the scanning device to compensate for the movement of the film. When the scanning is effected by a cathode ray oscillograph in a direction perpendicular to the motion of the film, the compensation is effective to avoid the scanning of the bar or space between successive frames. In this case a saw tooth wave is applied to one of the plates to produce a succession of scanning lines which cover an area equal or equivalent to that between successive picture frames. When the film is scanned parallel to its direction of motion, a saw tooth deflecting potential is applied to the second of the plates which control the movement of the scanning beam parallel to the motion of the film, so that successive scanning lines are displaced in the direction of motion of the film. The apparatus may be controlled so that each alternate picture or every third picture of the film is scanned. The details are generally similar to those described in Specification 399,469.
