Abstract

412,733. Cartons of paper &c. HARTMANN, C. W., Lyngby, near Copenhagen. April 13, 1933, No. 11126. [Classes 18, 66, and 94 (ii).] A carton of paper, cardboard, &c. to hold liquids, granular or pasty material, &c. comprises a rectangular lower portion and a wedge-like upper portion and the lower end is formed by a plurality of superposed flaps whereby an inner flap 1<a>, Fig. 2, extends across the whole of the interior of the carton and is sealed at its edges where the sides merge into the base. The flaps are adhesively secured together and a rib 9 to engage the edges of the flap 1<a> is formed by pressing grooves 10 in the sides. A depression may be formed in the underside of the base by the presser plate which presses the base flaps together. The upper end is sealed by a metal clip 13, and to gain access to the contents, the clip and the upper edge of the carton are torn off along a scored line adjacent the clip, or, in the case of liquid contents, a pouring spout 16, Fig. 8, is formed by cutting along a weakened line 15 and pulling out the pleated material adjacent this line. The carton may be waxed and is made from a single blank folded to tubular form with the overlapping edges adhesively secured together. According to the Provisional Specification, the clip 13 may be grooved or corrugated.
