[Classes 52 (ii) and 52 (iii).] The sides of a bed are used to form a table top. Fig. 2 shows a bed comprising two-part side members i-i<3> which are joined to the end members b, b <1> and to each other in pairs by hook-and slot joints n, l. On their inner sides are ledges supporting a mattress frame. To convert the bed into a table, the parts i-i<3> are fitted in slotted edge pieces r, Fig. 1, and are supported on the end members b, b<1>, which are connected and stayed by members c, c<1>, which support a board and a wire mattress and overlay indicated by chain lines. The mattresssupporting ledges, which project inwards from the lower edges of the parts i, i engage with the recesses q, Fig. 2. The mattress-supporting ledges on the parts i-i<3> may be connected by latches or by hinges.
