[Class 83 (iv).] Drawn wire is removed from the drawing drum of a single drum machine or from the end reel of a multiple drawing drum machine by a stripper d which is of known construction but which is positively guided and controlled so that it may operate automatically. For this purpose the stripper is -provided with a disc i adapted to seat in a ring or part-ring k which is mounted on a vertically guided member l of square section, or comprising parallel rods, so that no turning of the plate k about its vertical axis can take place. The plate k is controlled vertically by a cable passing over a pulley p at the end of an arm q on a column r which is turned by a handle t and positioned by a stop s. The stripper has a central rod which enters an aperture in the drum to centre the stripper, the drum having axial grooves e which are flared at their upper ends to facilitate the entry of the stripper arms d.
