[Class 97 (i).] The amount of film in a spool box is continuously visibly indicated by a device actuated by a feeler, and another signalling device is automatically actuated by the feeler when all but a predetermined length of film has been unwound. As shown, a feeler 5 rests on the film 6 coiled on a pay-out spool 7. The feeler is carried by an arm 9 turning with a spindle carrying a pointer 8 which, while the arm 9 moves from position I to position II, travels over a scale 12 graduated in film lengths or time intervals, or both. When the diameter of the coiled film permits the arm to fall from position II to position III, a hammer 13, also carried by the spindle, strikes a gong 14 attached to the spool box.
