Abstract
411,990. Differential speed indicators. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and ESPLEY, D. C., c/o General Electric Co., Wembley, Middlesex. March 6, 1933, Nos. 6799 and 6922. [Class 106 (iii).] The speed of a shaft 2, Fig. 1, is compared with the frequency of an alternating current by means of a linear discharge lamp 13 which rotates with the shaft and projects an image 17 of itself through a lens 15, also rotating with the shaft, on to a screen 19. The standard alternating currentis applied through leads 39, Fig. 2, and switch 31 to relay TR, and the switches 37 are so set that the lamp 13 lights up momentarily at each movement of the relay armature. If the shaft 2 is synchronous with the alternating current a definite pattern of lines of light is produced on screen 19.
