Abstract
411,780. Thermal switches. PAYNE, M., 50, Hook Road, Surbiton, Surrey, and BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO., Ltd., Windmill Road, Sunbury, Middlesex. Jan. 15, 1934, No. 1452. [Class 38 (v).] A thermal switch has a bellows c connected by a nipple d to a bulb (not shown) containing a volatile liquid subject to change of temperature. A spring g acts through a rod h to oppose expansion of the bellows and the tension of the spring which is adjustable by means of a hand wheel i, is shown by means of a scale and a fixed pointer k. The bellows c acts on a lever i to tilt a mercury tube switch m the leads o of which are connected to a terminal block p arranged in a compartment q having a separate inspection cover v. The nipple d has a branch e leading to a thermometer f to indicate the temperature of the apparatus to be controlled and a level t is incorporated to assist in the accurate mounting of the device.
