Abstract

Compositions comprising fibres and rubber are rendered more capable of being sheeted or extruded by the addition to the mill during mixing, of 1-50 per cent of latex. The formation of bubbles is obviated by the addition of a porous filler such as finely ground fibres containing vulcanized rubber, pumice, whiting, or wood dust from rubber trees, which is prepared by submitting wood, leaves, &c. of rubber trees to surface coagulation to prevent loss of latex, drying at a temperature not exceeding 80 DEG C., and grinding.
