A. ; 645, North Lombard Avenue, Oak Park, Illinois, U.S.A.) Jan. 15, 1934, No. 1498. Convention date, May 31, 1933. [Class 100 (i).] A rotary paper-folding machine of the type comprising tucking-blades on a cylinder coacting with a pair of folding-rollers is provided with a stationary gear for actuating the blades by means of pinions secured to the shafts of the blades, the gear and pinions being enclosed within an oil-retaining housing mounted on the cylinder. The fixed gear 30 is secured to a bushing 20 enclosing the roller-bearings 21 for the cylinder-shaft 24 and mounted in the main frame 13 so as to be capable of small circumferential adjustment by means of bolts 88 engaging a lug 87 thereon. An annular casing 50 is secured to one end of the folding-cylinder 10 and in it is formed bearings 64 for one end of the tucking-blade shaft 17 and bearings 70 for an idler-gear 40 coupling the gear 30 to the gear 41 on the shaft 17. Between the sets of gears 40, 41, the casing 50 is made narrower and the outer bearings of the gears 40 are formed on detachable parts 71 of the casing. The casing forms an oil-retaining housing and has a circumferential groove 74 fitting over a rib 73 on the extension 31 of the bushing 20 to prevent leakage of the oil. A plug is threaded into an aperture close to the outer edge of the casing 50 for the insertion and draining of lubricant. The other ends of the blade shafts 17 rotate in bearings 79 on a frame 78 fixed to the cylinder 10. Oil-sealing rings 76 and retaining rings 77 are fitted to the bearings 64, 79.
