[Classes 132 (ii) and 132 (iii).] In game apparatus wherein balls, cubes, or the like are projected from and caught in a flat box 2, Figs. 1, 2, the ball receptacles comprise wire or strip spiral springs 12, which are compressed by the lid 13 when the box is closed and expand to form the funnelshaped receptacles shown when the box is opened. The springs 12 may be attached to the plate 8, as shown, or to the inside of the lid 13. The balls normally lie on a disc 6 within apertures 7 in plate 8, and are projected by retracting a knob 10 to withdraw a slide 3 against the action of springs 11, and then releasing the knob, the impact during the spring return of slide 3, of a cam 4 thereon with a stud 5 on the disc 6 flicking the balls into the air. The case 2 is then manually manipulated to catch the balls. In a modification, the disc 6 is replaced by an annular ring, secured to the case 2 and having inwardly projecting spring arms on which the balls 9 normally rest within the apertures 7, the slide 3 having a plurality of cams, one to coact with a stud on each of these arms. In a further modification, the balls normally rest on springs 14, Figs. 3, 4, and when a cross-shaped member 16 is rotated by means of a knob 17, inclined wings 15 thereon engage lugs 14<a> of the springs 14 which are thus depressed and then suddenly released to project the balls. Further modifications are shown in which one or more balls are projected from apertures 7 in the plate 8 into receptacles on the lid 13 or on the plate 8, but not surrounding an aperture 7. The projectiles may be of different weights and/or the projecting springs therefor may be of different strengths. Recesses may be provided in the plate 8 to house the balls when the box 2 is shut.
