[Class 64 (i).] A boiler comprising a liquid-containing vessel 1, a surrounding jacket 19 and an outermost body 8 has projections or ribs pressed from the jacket 19 or wall of the vessel 1 to bridge the space between the jacket and vessel, so breaking into streams the rising heating gases. The wall of the vessel may be pressed to form corrugations or channels extending upwardly from the base to a position adjacent the upper end of vessel and forming ribs extending into or across the space between the vessel and jacket. The jacket is metallic and has an outer asbestos coating 20 which may be held in place by a sleeve 29 and is spaced from the outer body 8. Flue gas collects in an annular space 24 and passes out by a pipe 34. The top of the vessel 1 is bent outwards to a horizontal flange 6 covered by a top ring 10 secured by screws 12 to the outer body.
