409,533. Vehicle luggage-holders. SOC. ANON. DES USINES CHAUSSON, 35, Rue Malakoff, Asnieres, Seine, France. July 13, 1933, No. 19858. Convention date, July 15, 1932. [Class 103 (ii).] In a luggage-holder for the rear of automobiles &c. comprising a base 1 of sheet-iron fixed to the chassis 23, a front panel 2, and double side-walls, each comprising a lateral panel 3 or 4 of the holder proper and a lateral exterior panel 11 or 12, the panels 11, 12 are fixed to the rear of the vehicle body, to the mudguards 13, and to the peripheries a, b, c, d of the panels 3, 4 for example by tubular rivets, and are formed along their upper and rear edges with gutters 14 in which are disposed the corresponding edges of the cover 16 and sparewheel-supporting rear-panel 17. Between the inner flange of each gutter and the top edge of each panel 3, 4 a length of rubber or like material 22 is secured which forms a watertight joint when the cover 16 and panel 17 are closed. Any panel when damaged can be detached and replaced without the other panels being affected. The holder is divided by a piece of sheet-iron 6 into two compartments, the upper forming a tool-box 7, while horizontal irons 8 are fixed to the panels 3, 4 of the lower compartment to support therein trunks or boxes 10.
