Drawings to Specification. [Class 83 (iv).] Cold rolling.-In a method of treating silicon steels, especially those containing 0.3-6.0 per cent of silicon, to improve their electrical properties, a hot rolled strip is subjected to a cold working operation to reduce its thickness and introduce excessive strain therein, is then heat treated to remove partially the said strain and then annealed and/or treated so as to preclude any coil set in the finished product. The cold working is carried out to obtain a minimum reduction of approximately 10 per cent, and may be carried out after a hot rolled strip is annealed and before the heat treatment.
