Abstract

406,088. Vehicle - lamp supports. CURTIS, T. H., Appletree, Chipping Warden, Banbury, Oxfordshire. Nov. 5, 1932, No. 31289. [Class 75 (iii).] A device for indicating the location of a car comprises a telescopic or collapsable mast mounted on the car body, means for retaining the mast in an adjusted position, and a sign carried at the upper end of the mast. As shown, the mast comprises an upper portion 3 which slides within a lower slotted tubular portion 1 and carries a screwed pin 9 which projects through the slot 11 and is provided with a wing nut 13 whereby the mast may be adjusted in height. Alternatively the mast may be held in the elevated position by spring tongues, or may be pivoted to the car body. The sign comprises an internally illuminated box 15 having glazed walls 17 carrying identifying matter. The leads from the sign are carried down within the mast and are paid out from a spring controlled reel located beneath the mast as the latter is extended.
