Abstract

405,802. Mashing vegetables. MANTELET ET BOUCHER, 11, Rue Jules Ferry, Bagnolet, Seine, France. Feb. 14, 1933, No. 4559. Convention date, Feb. 16, 1932. [Class 28 (ii).] A vegetable masher comprises a container 2 having a perforated bottom 1, which may be plane, conical or part spherical, a rotary presser member 6 mounted on a handle shaft 4 journalled in a boss 3 on the underside of the bottom 1, and a spring 10 keeping the edge 7 of the member 6 resiliently in contact with the bottom 1. The member 6 is formed as a helix, the edge 9 being progressively more distant from the side wall of the container 2 as the vertical distance from the bottom increases. A blade 12 attached to the following edge of the presser, removes adhering matter from the wall, or the bottom of the side wall of the container 2 may be perforated to enable the scraper 12 to assist the mashing operation. In a modification, the spring 10 is enclosed in a sleeve-like extension of the nut 11.
