Abstract

405,347. Colour kinematography. DAVIES, J., 486, Hawthorne Road, Bootle, Lancashire. July 8, 1932, No. 19304. [Class 97 (i).] In kinematograph films intended to reproduce natural colours, each frame of the negative film contains a single complete picture divided longitudinally, transversely, or obliquely into two or more parts, one or more parts being taken through one and the other or others through a complementary colour filter and through a diffusing screen, the parts being in the same arrangement in each frame. The monochrome positive film obtained from the negative is projected through colour filters and a diffusing screen similar to those through which the negative film was taken or one colour component part is projected through a filter, the remaining part being projected without a filter. When taking, a composite filter having red and green parts, the dividing line being vertical, horizontal, or diagonal, is used and may be placed in contact with the film or, it is stated, in front of or behind the lens. The diffusing screen comprising a pattern of lines or dots &c. may be arranged on a separate plate, on the filter, or on the film itself. Fig. 3 shows a positive film in which the projecting filters are embodied in the film, the parts a of each frame being dyed red and the parts b dyed green or uncoloured.
