Abstract

404,239. Artificial ground surfaces. BURTON, E., 34, Plum Lane, Plumstead Common, London. Aug. 19, 1933, No. 23178. [Class 87 (i).] An artificial ground surface, particularly to simulate a grass covered surface, is made up of a number of blocks 1 of rubber each having studs or projections 3 on its upper surface, the studs being separated by intersecting channels 2 and each carrying one or more upwardly protruding rubber stems 4. The lower surface may also be channelled. The blocks may have embedded cores, for example made of a mixture of reclaimed rubber, resin, and sawdust, and they may be formed with upper and lower flanges at opposite ends to allow them to interlock when laid.
