[Class 130.] In a machine in which cigar fillers from a rolling device are introduced one at a time by a plunger 18 into the grooves 2<1> of intermittently moving moulds 2, the moulds are arranged end to end on a conveyer track and are given an increased forward movement each time the ends of two contiguous moulds come into the range of the filler-inserting position. As shown, the moulds travel over a table 1 and a recess in the base of each mould is engaged by a pin 3 on a chain 4 passing over freely rotatable sprocket wheels 5. The moulds are advanced step by step by the engagement of the grooves 21 by a pawl 61 pivoted on a lever 6, which is actuated from a cam 15 on the shaft 13 through a forked rod 12 having a roller 14 engaging a cam track 151 ; the rod 12 is connected to an arm 10<111> on a rock-shaft 11, which carries a bell-crank 10 connected by a link 9 and lever 7 to the lever 6. A roller 16 on the lever 6 normally rides over a member 17 having an inclined end 17111, so that the pawl 61 actuates the mould 2 only at the end of its movement. The member 17 is pivoted at 25 on a lever 26 pivoted at 27<1> on the machine frame, and carries a roller 171 bearing against the side of the mould 2. When the last recess 2<1> of a mould comes under the plunger 18, the member 17 is tilted by a spring 27, Fig. 4, about the pivot 25, so that the roller 17<1> enters the gap Z between two moulds. The lever 6 then falls through a gap 17<11> in the member 17 and the pawl 61 engages the first recess in the subsequent mould and makes a full stroke, bringing the recess under the plunger 18. At the end of the stroke, the roller 16 engages the inclined end 17<111> of the member 17 and moves it aside. The operation of the plunger 18 is effected by a lever 19 connected by a link 24 to the bell-crank 10.
