Abstract

403,618. Maintaining defined speeds of motors. GRAHAM BROS. AKTIEBOLAG, 34, Norr Malarstrand, Stockholm. March 24, 1932, No. 8899. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 17, 1932]. [Class 38 (iii).] A D.C. motor 4, Fig. 1, driving a lift is maintained at a constant slow speed, when the lift is approaching a landing at which it is to stop, by a brake 6 operated electromagnetically in accordance with the motor current. During normal running the brake is released by energization of a winding 13, 14. For slow speed operation the winding 13, 14 is de-energized, a winding 9, 10 is energized to assist a spring 15 to apply the brake and contacts 17 are opened so as to energize a winding 11, 12 with the motor current, the winding 11, 12 opposing winding 9, 10 and thus reducing the braking force upon increase of motor current. In one modification a three phase A.C. motor is used and the braking effect is reduced by a winding 31, 32, Fig. 2, connected in series with phase I. The supply to the windings may be rectified to reduce noise. In another modification an auxiliary motor is used either to produce or to reduce the braking pressure.
