Abstract
403,276. Sheet-metal piles. KRUPP AKT.-GES. FRIEDRICH-ALFRED-HUTTE, F., Rheinhausen, Niederrhein, Germany. April 20, 1933, Nos. 11547, 11548, and 11549. Convention dates, Sept. 17, 1932, Sept. 24, 1932, and Sept. 30, 1932. [Class 68 (ii).] Thin sheet-metal piles formed by a hot-rolling and a series of cold roller-bending operations are of trough or Z-form with the angle included between the central portion and each lateral portion greater than 90‹, and with interengageable locking elements of the same thickness as the body portion on one or both longer edges. A pile section comprises a central portion 5, Fig. 1, and lateral portions 1 on which are formed hooks 2. A pile of substantially Z-section comprises a central portion 6, Fig. 2, and lateral portions 7, 8 on which are formed hooks 9. The hooks may be formed on one edge only, the other edges being welded as at 34, Fig. 3. Alternatively these edges may be overlapped and welded or rivetted. The hooks may be formed inclined to the plane of the lateral portions and the halves of each unit formed as mirror images of each other to produce the assembly shown in Fig. 6.
