Abstract

402,537. Gas meters. BLOOR, H. E., 2, St. James's Terrace, Clifton, York, and THORP & CO., Ltd., T., Victoria Works, Whitefield, near Manchester. July 28, 1932, No. 21283. [Class 64.] A gas meter supplies gas continuously to the pilot jets of an illuminated sign, advertisement, indicator or traffic signal, and the meter mechanism operates control means for supplying gas intermittently to the main burners without passing through the meter. In the apparatus shown, gas passes through the meter b to a row of jets a to provide pilot flames insufficient to illuminate the sign &c. The metering mechanism is geared to a shaft carrying cams e each of which trips at intervals a separate pivoted arm f carrying a valve g whereby a large flow of gas from a chamber i passes to the jets a to provide illuminating flames. The gas in the chamber i is tapped from a supply main k through piping k<2>, v. A governor r keeps the pressure of gas supplied to the meter b greater than that in the chamber i.
