[Class 43.] A lever buckle for suspender bands, brace webbing, and other bands comprises a frame 2 having a. fixed gripping edge 6 and a clamping lever 1 pivotally mounted on the upper part of the frame. The lever has a front depending gripping part adapted to co-operate with the edge 6 and a rear depending bar 10 adapted to move over a dead centre during fastening so that pull on a band 4 passed between the lever and the edge 6 will cause the front part to move into closer engagement with the band. In fastened position the edge of the front lever part lies slightly rearwards or opposite the edge 6. The frame may carry or be formed with a plate 3 whereon the edge 6 is provided either by teeth or serrations or by a forwardly bent flange. The teeth may be in two laterally spaced sets. Similarly the front part of the lever may carry two laterally spaced inturned gripping flanges 7 which may be toothed or plain. A finger lug 8 may be provided between the flanges 7. The rear bar 10 may be formed with a single projection 10a or with two or more spaced projections or it may be toothed or serrated. The return end 4a of the band may be swedged in prongs 5 on the plate 3, or, when the plate 3 is attached to a wire frame, the plate may be folded and clamped about the return end.
