Abstract

400,482. Tobacco. BRAND, H., 14, Sillerwies, Zurich, Switzerland. Feb. 22, 1933, No. 5458. [Class 130.] The mouth of a box for tobacco &c. is provided with a ring carrying a screw thread, part of which ring extends downwardly in the box and has its inner and lower edge continued downwardly in sloping resilient manner, and a screw-threaded cover for the box is provided with a surface adapted to fit the said edge and form a seal therewith between the contents of the box and the screw-threaded parts. As shown in Fig. 2, the upper edge of the ring 2 is turned over the box edge, and over the top of the cover 5 is secured a plate 9 which may have a hinged flap 29. The space 10 may be used for holding substances which give off moisture, in which case the bottom 7 could be perforated, or matches could be stored therein, the flap 29 being covered with an ignition mass. The threads 3 may lie on the outside of the box. The lower part of the cover may be provided with a jointing ring of rubber &c. The gap between the outer edge of the cover and the box may be sealed by a band of regenerated cellulose. A wire or cord 25 holding a seal 26 may pass through eyes 28 on the box and a slot 27 in the lid 9.
