Abstract

399,036. Opening-means for cans. OMSTED, K., 65, Enebakveien, Oslo, Norway. Nov. 12, 1932, No. 32041. Convention date, Nov. 14, 1931. [Class 66.] In a can adapted to have a strip torn out from the wall by engagement of a key with a rivet A attached thereto, the rivet is secured to the strip by compressing upon the stem as shown in Fig. 4 a ring which affords a part conical shoulder C between which and the head B of the rivet the wall is gripped. The rivet head and the shoulder are arranged to coincide with the closed end of the weakening line. Fig. 6 shows a key for engaging the rivet to remove the strip ; the part K terminating at the slit I may be made resilient to facilitate the engagement. The cross-section of the key at the point of engagement with the rivet is modified as shown in Fig. 4.
