Abstract

208,669. Gore, H. C. Feb. 26, 1923. Nail extractors.-A combination tool for opening packing cases consists of a Z-shaped bar A, Fig. 1, curved at its bends and having one end B, Fig. 2, bored out and provided with a tapering slot for extracting nails, and the other end C, Fig. 13, provided with a slanting slot C<1> for bursting hoop iron or wire. The sides of tha slot C' are preferably bevelled to form cutting edges and the inner end of the slot may be provided with a chisel edge C<2> for cutting metal linings of cases. A screw-driver C<3> and wirecutting nick C<4> are provided on the end C and buffer or hammer faces B<3> are formed on one or both of the bends of the bar A. The nail-extracting slot in the end B preferably has its edges inwardly bevelled in cross-section but the edges may be parallel or outwardly bevelled.
