Abstract
398,683. Wool cleaning processes. SHEVLIN, J. T., 15, South Street, London.' Nov. 26, 1932, No. 33558. [Class 138 (i).] A process of cleaning unscoured fleece and pulled wools and other allied animal fibres containing extraneous foreign matter and natural grease, consists in reducing the temperature of the fibres to a degree sufficient to congeal the grease and then cleaning the fibres by mechanical means while at the reduced temperature. The fleece of wool is preferably fed on to a conveyer and chilled either by having the conveyer confined in a cold chamber at the requisite low temperature or by subjecting the fibres on the conveyer to refrigerated air. The chilled wool is then fed into a dusting machine by which the grease and foreign matters are detached from the fibres.
