Abstract

398,631. Lampshades. THOMAS & CO., Ltd., F. and THOMAS, F. S., 189, Drummond Street, London. July 28, 1932, No. 21277. [Class 75 (ii).] A lampshade or the like comprises a glass cylinder 1 formed with a gap 2 extending longitudinally, and a metal or other strip 3 adapted to engage around the edges 5 of the cylinder. The supporting strip 3 is U-shaped in cross section and is formed with spaced flanges 4 serving to receive the edges 5 of the cylinder, and may have flanges at the ends to retain the cylinder in position. The strip 3 may be supported by a pendant or attached by brackets to a wall. The supporting strips of two such shades may be secured back to back and hung vertically, an end-plate holding the shades in position. Ornamental caps may close the ends of the cylinders.
